Thanks for the comment. I'd like to write some more virtuemart tutorials. If you have any topics you want covered, let me know and I'll see if I can write one for you. I think it's important to get tutorial ideas from people as they encounter the questions and problems. I am open to any suggestions on topics.

Cheers,
Ed

This is the first decent info I found on HOW TO START with VirtueMart 2.0 after hours of search. And it is well explained. Thanks for your effort!
p.s. please inform us if there is anything like this and more advanced published in the meantime (other authors, perhaps)?

I received this email from the plugin's author. Seems MySQLi isn't really a prerequisite. If you have any problems or questions you can contact him info@cyend.com

Hello,
Very good documentation. I would say it is much better than ours.

The only thing about MySQLi. It is not a prerequisite. The reason we made prerequisite, but we have compatible release (I already sent to you), is because one incident was reported to us that harmed J15 db. That is one incident for thousands of migration, but still we consider serious.

Even though we only read J15, some bug with MySQL caused update. Therefore we want users to first contact with us in order to remove the MySQLi restriction in order to advice them, and be sure that they will first backup their j15.

If there host do not support MySQLi, then there will be no problem with J15. But if it support and choose MySQL, there is 0.01% to harm the J15.

Another thing is that our component migrate older than 1.5.11 release, but user must fix manually menus.

That is absolutely gorgeous! I really like it. You can see a nice range of thumbnails at a glance, and there is page after page of them. It's great to see how many different kinds of galleries there are.

Hey Wendy,
Check out this cool gallery I put on Betsy's site.

http://changingseasons.biz

I like it because it gives you access to the whole gallery from the front page.

The Shortcode API that comes with the program permits CSS code to be written "as is," but not other forms of code. There's an explanation for it in this article: <a href="http://codex.wordpress.org/Writing_Code_in_Your_Posts" rel="nofollow">Writing Code In Your Posts</a>.

I'm used to b2evolution, where you simply click on the Code button to display code in posts.

The best (least fiddly) solution I could find is <a href="http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/visual-code-editor/" rel="nofollow">Visual Code Editor</a>. The others want you to disable the Tiny MCE visual editor we use when writing posts.

On the sharing code section - like you said it works for css but what about shortcode? Is there a way to include shortcode in a post so people can read it? Maybe a plugin or something?
